Re: Religion
(Anonymous) 2014-03-18 01:02 am (UTC)(link)I'd say I lean pretty heavily towards Christian, but I'm not exactly most people's idea of a Christian. The whole "sit in church on a Sunday, listen to a sermon, and go home" thing never worked for me. I prefer to participate and to discuss ideas with people, and read and question things. The church as it is now is built to shut down debate and questioning, and that makes me sad, because I think that's far from how it was originally intended to function.
And although I do like the ritual of Catholic and Anglican churches, I dislike the church organization.
I'm actually not a very spiritual person - in the sense that "feeling spiritual" is difficult for me, I find it hard to be moved emotionally during religious ceremonies. But I have had one or two spiritual moments that I can't really explain.
So I do believe there is a God. I don't KNOW there's a God but I believe there is one. Who or what that God is... I can't say for sure. It sometimes feels like everyone's stumbling blind, getting little bits and pieces of the truth.
I think it'll be a lifelong process of learning for me.
