Chakotay/Seven never happened. That was all just a fucked-up regeneration dream caused by Seven's alcove randomly malfunctioning. When she woke up and realized that none of it was real she sighed with relief and set about fixing her alcove so that nothing like that could ever happen again. She never spoke of it to anyone, either, because the idea of her dating Chakotay was just too ridiculous to even give a second thought.

There was a novel that did, IMO, a decent job of at least setting up the foundations for them beginning to feel an attraction towards each other, but yeah, in the show it did come out of nowhere.

I was scrolling down to see if someone mentioned them yet. I never understood this pairing. At the time, I seriously thought I'd missed a bunch of episodes because there was practically no buildup at all. I liked both characters but it seemed so unnatural for them to get together and it pulled me out of the story.

The thing about C/7 is that Robert Beltran was pissed about how his character didn't have anything interesting to do and was threatening to leave the show, so the producers decided to let Chakotay do Seven just to make him stay.

Haha, omg I thought the same. I remember watching the series and being like, "Wait, when did this happen?" But it really did come out of nowhere.

Ugh, this. Where the fuck did that even come from?

Fuck that pairing. It can from nowhere and then Seven died. WTF show.

Ugh. I hated it too. And not because it got in the way of any of my ships either since I don't ship Chakotay/Janeway or Doctor/Seven. It just mae no sense.

To be fair, hating C/7 is probably the only thing J/7 and J/C fans can agree on. We are united in our hatred, so I guess that can sort of be seen as a positive?

I don't actually ship Janeway with anyone. I can't do ships where one person is in a position of authority over the other. Its a button for me. So I only ship Voyager ships where the characters are equal (Tom/B'Lanna and 7/B'Lanna mostly) and really just stick to gen fics.

Oh, I was referring to "we" as in my fellow J/7 shippers and our deadly foes, the J/C shippers.

I don't ship Janeway with anyone male.

This was going to be my answer.

I have no issue with the ship per se; I just think it came out of left field. It felt very abrupt. If it had arisen organically and been given time to germinate, I think I'd have been okay with it.

Yeah, it was just so insanely odd.
