There's no sexism in this thread AT ALL!

Try not to slip on the sarcasm.

Seriously, people don't see why bragging "I don't have female friends" and "I'm not like other girls" is misogynistic? The bit about feminism I can take or leave because third-wave feminism has yet to take over the more ignorant white feminists (white feminism being an ideology, not an attack on feminists who are white, can we stop having this conversation please?) and people might not want to associate themselves with feminism in its current state.

(For people who are wondering why more sane feminists don't call out the less sane feminists, it's because by the time we've been feminists long enough to see that they actually exist outside of the strawman projection by more toxic MRAs, we'v already realized that we won't be changing anybody's mind if they aren't questioning if they're wrong, and so we don't bother. We're too tired shielding ourselves from enemy fire to also block friendly fire, so to speak.)

But to argue that men and women are equal now...I don't even know where to start. The fact that boner pills are insured but birth control isn't? The fact that we're still paid less for the same job with the same experience? The fact that I still feel awkward speaking when I'm the only woman in the room specifically for that reason? If you think men and women are treated equally, you need to get glasses, hearing aids, and maybe an entirely new central nervous system.

The fact that boner pills are insured but birth control isn't?

You might be glad to hear that that's no longer the case and hasn't been for a little over a year now (despite efforts to undo it).

Uh...contraceptives are covered under insurance. "With the exception of churches and houses of worship, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates contraceptive coverage for all employers and educational institutions, even though the mandate itself is not included in the wording of the law(s) passed by Congress. The mandate applies to all new health insurance plans effective August 2012. It controversially includes Christian hospitals, Christian charities, Catholic universities, and other enterprises owned or controlled by religious organizations that oppose contraception on doctrinal grounds."

And things like Viagra and such are covered by insurance because they are actual medical problems. You know, problems with something that should not be a problem.

And the wage gap? Meh. Plenty of information disproving it.

Eh, the majority of male erectile dysfunction is simply the result of aging. I think it's absolutely fantastic that modern medicine gave us a way around it because it no doubt improves men's quality of life, but it's something I'm sure to bring up every time someone argues against insurance-funded infertility treatments because infertility is the "natural" result of "women waiting too long".

And the wage gap? Meh. Plenty of information disproving it.

And there's plenty of information proving that it exists. So what?

So what?
So, the burden of proof is on people who say the wage gap exists to say that studies and explanations saying it doesn't are wrong.

Anon, the U.S. Census Bureau says the gender wage gap exists. Find a source that's just as legitimate and get back to us.

Also, here are all the scholarly articles Google found with the words 'gender wage gap.' You'll notice that at least the first twenty say it does exist, and the debate is mostly about how big it actually is.

Oh, of course it doesn't exist. I just make 20k less than the dudes on my team for no damn reason. My co-worker who was the person who had to found this team and train the guys makes 10k less than them, still. But it's pretty much every private company policy that you can be punished just for knowing that, so it's nothing you can actually bring up and most people don't actually know. Get real.

To be fair, Viagra and similar drugs help improve women's quality of life too. Plenty of horny older ladies out there. :)

And you're dead right about the fertility point, too. I'm going to start using that analogy.
