Female body hair and men

(Anonymous) 2014-03-19 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Guys (who are attracted to women), would you find a woman attractive if her legs, underarms or vag were unshaven? Do you think a woman being unshaven is gross or are you indifferent about body hair?

I'm just really curious because I've seen some guys who act terrified of female body hair and I wondered if it was a common thing.

I am curious to see the answer to this too. Though it might be really different than what the general population would say.

I have never understood the phenomenon of shaving one's vag. I don't want anything that sharp down there. Or that itchy.

I have never understood the phenomenon of shaving one's vag.

Personally, I really enjoy the feel of having bare skin in that area and it gives me (and other women who feel the same way) a heightened sense of pleasure whilst masturbating or having sex. Aesthetically though, I don't really like the way it looks and I hate the hassle of shaving and I'm too embarrassed to get waxed so I don't do it too often

I just can't stand the itch when it starts to grow back in.

ayrt

Yeah, that's definitely another factor that keeps me from doing it often. I try every in the book to avoid ingrown hairs but I still get them and having an ingrown hair in your pubic area is basically hell on earth.

It's the strangest thing, because I'm definitely itchier when I haven't shaved in a while. The day after, it might be a little irritated, but as long as I remember to use body butter I can usually bypass that stage completely.

Hm, hadn't thought about it from the sex angle (I'm a virgin). Does it just get in the way when it's hairy? And honest curiosity, what about genital hair on your partner - does that affect it?

idk if it would stay smooth in my case. Shaving my bikini line gives me a horrible itchy bumpy red rash. :/

This, plus it's much easier to keep clean during my period. (Also I have had some unpleasant experiences where a hair got caught under the sticky edge of a pad and OW.)

I personally just like to trim it up a bit. I don't wax or anything like that, but I don't like long hairs growing wild.

Re: Female body hair and men

(Anonymous) 2014-03-19 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I wax, but only the bikini line, for aesthetic purposes. I just don't like how it looks if I wear a bikini and there are bits of black hair sticking out. The rest of the time I just trim it because it's itchy either way, for me.

I don't swim enough for it to be worth it. I used to shave down there, but ugh, no. So much itchy bumpy redness, and then it all grows back in like three days. Now if I do swim (which is...maybe once a year??) I just put shorts on over my suit.

TMI incoming.

I trim the general pubic hair because if it gets long, I end up with fibro skin sensitivity issues from the hair pressing against my underwear. It actually is physically painful. I also shave the area right around my genitalia (where the skin starts to change texture) because, um, I get very *long* pubic hair, and let me just say that having your own pubic hair tangle itself around your clit is very, very, very unpleasant. Especially whilst in public. -_-

Since you're just interested in individual opinions, one of my guy friends prefers a girl not to shave her legs because he'd rather they feel soft in bed.

Re: Female body hair and men

(Anonymous) 2014-03-19 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I don't get it. He thinks unshaven legs are softer? In that case, I had never heard that opinion before... My legs definitely feel softer when shaved.

Right after shaving, they're softer, but not with any amount of stubble.

I'm not a man, but I know several, including my own partner, who don't care.

In case it matters, they're all over age 35.

Silly, there are no men on the Internetfandom!secrets.

of the 0.5% of them, pretty sure 99% of that is gay.

I can think of at least one each ace, bi, and straight, but interestingly do not know any who I am certain are gay.

Re: Female body hair and men

Straight fella here. I'm pretty indifferent to body hair on women, within reason. I say within reason because I can definitely construct hypothetical scenarios where I might be like "Whoa, too much" but honestly, I haven't really encountered that.

I will say that leg stubble bothers me more than leg hair, only because stubble is kinda scratchy, whereas hair isn't.

This makes perfect sense considering that stubble on a guy's face can get kinda irritating when kissing. Not the end of the world, though.

Don't really care as far as pubic hair goes, as long as the bush isn't so big you have to take a snorkel along. And to be honest most of my friends don't care either.

Underarm hair and leg hair are a little off-putting but only in the sense that it's a surprise to see them. I much prefer the smooth feeling of shaved legs on girl, but I wouldn't turn down one who didn't shave. I'd miss that sensual aspect, though.

Re: Female body hair and men

(Anonymous) 2014-03-19 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry for late response. As I said in the shaving of pubic area thread about a week ago, I prefer people, of any gender, to be at least trimmed down there, because I find thick bushes really off putting, not a deal breaker, but prefer it at least trimmed. For other body parts, it depends. I remember one girl I had a crush on in middle school had hairy arms one day while I ran past her on our track and I was like "Whoa, you have some hairy arms." Still had a crush on her, but then again she had kinda sandy blonde hair, so her arm hair wasn't really noticeable unless you got close. As for other women, I really have noticed it. Wouldn't probably be a big issue, unless they had Hypertrichosis or something (not that there's something wrong with having it, but just not into it).

Wait, do people actually expect women to shave their arms? Like, actual arms? Is this a thing?

Re: Female body hair and men

(Anonymous) 2014-03-19 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember in high school that a few girls did, but I don't think it's especially common or many people out of their awkward growing up phase do it.

AYRT

I didn't/don't expect women to shave their arms, it's that her arm hair was fairly long, not just little hairs or something, and it surprised me in a "Oh...huh" sense. It also surprised me because I never, and for the most part haven't, seen women with that kind of arm hair since then.
