This is one of the reasons I really don't like a lot of romantic comedies, so I haven't really watched any recently that come to mind.

But on a related note, I've started to notice this sort of thing in songs that I used to think were vaguely romantic. Like half of Something Corporate's lyrics are actually pretty skeezy. 18 year old me saw nothing wrong with Runaway. 27 year old me? Holy shit, this song is basically "Everything wrong with Twilight: The Song"
