They don't have to be carbon copies but if you try to hold a long conversation with someone with whom you share literally no interests or values, it's going to degenerate pretty quickly to "how's the weather? mhm. how's class? mhm. looking forward to break? me too" and then there's really nothing else to say.

If you can't hold a conversation about something other than subjects you like, then you have shitty social skills no matter how you slice it.

just because you can doesn't mean it's entertaining or worth your time.

I disagree with your assertion anyway. How do you have a decent conversation about something you don't know anything about?

So talking to people who aren't interested in the same things you are isn't worth your time. Kind of explains everything, don't it?

How do you have a decent conversation about something you don't know anything about?

By asking questions. And listening to the answers. Try it sometime.

Oh, are you my anon-hater?

Hi. I missed you!

You must hate a lot of people who have specific interests and don't really want to spend long periods of time talking about something they have zero interest in. It's not that the fact I'm talking to someone who likes different things is a waste of time, but the conversation itself may be. If someone wants to vent about a bad situation, or needs my help with something, or just say a friendly hello, that is absolutely worth my time. But if someone wants to have a long, detailed conversation with me about, say, football? no, that conversation is not worth my time, however much I may or may not value the individual who wants to have it. I would never expect someone who has zero interest in one of my hobbies to sit there and listen to me talk about it and pretend to be interested for a long period of time. And, believe it or not, there pretty much has to be some basis of common interest (and, thus, the ability to hold a long and still interesting conversation) for me to be able to have more than a casual friendship with someone. I do not think this is unusual.

If the topic is interesting to me, of course I'll ask questions. If I already know it's not - like football - I probably won't because I really do not care about the answers.
