Why does pretending to be non-binary help you fit in with your fandom? Are you doing something that other members of your fandom would consider gross or unconscionable if a cisgender heterosexual man did it? Do most people in your fandom identify as non-binary or queer? Does your fandom have a reputation for painting all cisgender and/or heterosexual men as oppressors? Is the idea of being non-binary a fantasy for you, and you want to live it out online?

Whatever the reason, it probably isn't really necessary for you to pretend to be someone you're not. In fact, as others have said, this pretense might backfire on you. Suppose you no longer want to maintain the facade, and you "come out," so to speak, as the person you actually are? If you do that, then you're virtually guaranteed to receive all the venom and bile that you presumably created this persona to avoid.
