Oddly enough, though I read tonnes of romantically-focused fanfic, I'm really more about individual characters. I have numerous "fave pairings" where I'm way more invested in the happiness/experiences of Character A than his/her partner, and there are pairings composed of two characters I like individually but can't stand seeing paired off (because they don't seem compatible or interested or whatever)!

For me it's always about the characters as themselves. I love certain pairings, for sure, but always in the context of each character involved, rather than as half of a romance.

Huh. I have Learned A Thing today!
