Speaking as someone who only found this place recently, and those who also don't know, can some explain this? There was a point in F!S history where this was a prevalent opinion? Or just the internet in general.

1. The picture OP used is a generic anime girl picture that was really popular a few years back.

2. I don't think it was ever that prevalent in f!s, but the rest of the Internet, in my experience, was very much like that. Could've just been the places I hung out, of course, but this secret made me feel really nostalgic.

No no you're totally right. At this point, most of the big fandoms were all anime, so a popular opinion was "anime boys are so much better than real boys <33"

It's only in recent years that things here have shifted to western media and real life actors.

I think you can see this manifested in irl at stuff like cons. A couple years ago it would've been all anime all the time. Now you have people dressing up as characters from all sorts of things.

I think there was bit of the older fandoms keeping separate from the younger fandoms.

Where as now, the internet makes it easier or kids in younger fandoms to find what the adults are into.

Yeah I'm surprised nobody else has said anything about it! I'd almost take the secret seriously if they didn't use that picture.
