Re: Really popular non-canon ships who you see as just really good friends

A lot of really overtly touchy-feely male/male friendships are like this for me, because I love seeing guy friends be touchy-feely without having anything romantic about it AND without any homophobic macho anxiety issues so much that I feel reluctant to ship them.

Same. I feel this way about f/f ships too. I love femslash but I also love female friendships that don't succumb to stereotypes about how catty women are. So I tend to have two parallel headcanons: one where they're friends and one where they're in love.

I very often do the "parallel headcanon" thing too! Especially in cases like the ayrt described -- I feel like I'm losing something by shipping it, yet I feel an impulse to ship it, so I do both. (And for some m/f friendships too.)

I'm the same way. When guys are kind of comfortably playful with each other, I'm less likely to ship it. When they act kind of awkward around each other, I'm much more likely.
