Re: Really popular non-canon ships who you see as just really good friends

Not currently popular but very prevalent among fans of Road to El Dorado would be Tulio/Miguel. I can technically see the gay, but I'm not feeling it you guys. And I hate how people bash Chel and say she broke up a romantic relationship, because that's somehow worse than breaking a friendship.

Not to mention that Miguel doesn't exactly seem upset with Chel or with not being with Tulio.

And I've never particularly liked it (or disliked it) because the best moments are when they're being buddies, not when they're having emotional moments.

Yeah, Miguel was never mad at Chel. He was upset because Tulio dismissed their years-long friendship (and they were having the disagreement on whether going back or not). I hate the implication among some shippers that his feelings were that intense and valid ONLY because he was Tulio's lover.

I always thought Tulio's attraction to Chel was one of the lesser elements of that fight. The bigger element to me seemed to be Miguel's desire to settle down vs Tulio's attachment to the con. Both Tulio and Chel seemed to want to leave El Dorado, while Miguel seemed to want to become part of the community. I thought it was less that Miguel had a problem with them being romantically involved, and more that he thought Chel supporting Tulio's desire to complete the con was widening the schism between them.
