Re: Really popular non-canon ships who you see as just really good friends
Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright (or at the least only one-sided and unrequited)
Cesare Borgia/Micheletto (again, unrequited)
Sherlock/John
Howard Moon/Vince Noir
James Potter/Sirius Black
Harry/Hermione
Eren/Armin
Legolas/Aragorn
Pippin/Merry
Liz Lemon/Jack Donaghy
Sansan from GoT
Aang/Katara (WTF, that one's canon? I just googled it and did not know that, nope friends only still in my head)
Kirk/Spock (in all incarnations)
I have trouble seeing most of the most popular non-canon ships of all fandoms as anything more than friendship. I'll read shippy fic, but I don't see them like that.
For some baffling reason my brain is fine with many rarepairs, which are usually the even less likely hookups. Perhaps because they have fewer canon moments so I can imagine away?
