By contrast, Attack on Titan has a lot more plot stuff going on plus a ton of characters (who as a whole are probably more difficult to deal with than Free's cast, writing-wise) and a more complicated world. It's a lot harder to write for a series where the cast are facing life-threatening danger constantly than one where everyone just hangs out and goes swimming all the time. Plus there's a difference in what you go in expecting: if I'm looking for Free fic, I'm looking for slashy relationship fics, maybe fluffy and cute or teenage drama. Titan, I'd rather read something rich and plotty, and people just don't write those as much in general, so you get a bunch of teenage drama AUs that are terribly disappointing in general. (Also not helping is that AoT's most popular character is not as easily slashable as Free's, so you end up with Levi/Eren as the big pairing when there's not a lot of canon for them and half the people writing don't even seem to have much of a grip on either character.)
