Skilled people can definitely serve as inspirations. Though, not skilled as people getting down on themselves when they see pros do stuff happens too.

I do think it's both elitist and petty, though, to openingly mock for not being good. That can be really damaging to people just starting out.

People who practice more are going to be better than people who don't. You earn those skills by practicing, plain and simple. Or are you telling me at that all art is created equally and there's no need to even learn basics?

Art is not created equally, but judging it solely on technical merit without looking at the underlying idea is just unbearably shallow.

But communicating effectively and deciding what idea to communicate are part of those skill sets I was mentioning. Those also require practice.

I mean, when people start out they're not going to be good as someone who's been at it for years. It isn't desirable to be bad at something, but you can use the person who is better at the thing you want to improve on as a means to get better.

If that makes me elitist, I suppose I am then.

Look, sometimes people are better at things than others. There's nothing wrong with that. It's normal.

Elitism isn't acknowledging that some people are better at things than others. Elitism is acting as if those people who are better at certain things are better people.
