And I agree with you about Free! it knows exactly what it's doing and it did what it set out to do. The moment Haru and Rin dramatically threw off their shirts to reveal they always wear their swimsuit underneath, I knew this show wasn't taking itself too seriously. It did have some genuinely touching moments but at it's heart it was a lighthearted story of friendship and swimming.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-21 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)It might be silly, it might be slash-bait, but at least it's self-aware and tongue-in-cheek (though it does have its touching moments as well as moments of surprising depth, I agree), and this is something that I can always appreciate.
But yes, the SnK fandom. I shall forever mourn what might have been :( (Or I could just start writing, though real life is doing its best to make sure I don't have too much time on my hands.)
