I can enjoy some pretty serious age differences in fic. Like you, I'm putting myself in the shoes of the younger character who's attracted to the older character. I think in its own way, it's a pretty standard power fantasy for young people, the idea that someone much older than you could love you that way. In real life, young teens entering into relationships with older people may think that they're in that fictional scenario were they hold the power, but they most definitely do not.

A lot of things that are 100% awful in real life can be empowering as fantasies. Enjoying something in fiction=/=condoning it in real life.
