I call humbug. A good idea/plot will keep me reading just to find out what the heck is going to happen. Case in point, Gillian Flynn's books. I HATE THE WAY SHE WRITES. Bloated and she is horrible at giving different characters voices. (All the characters speak exactly the same. The same speech pattern. The same vocab. The same everything.) I swear, reading her prose is like listening the Kronk talk about Kusco's poison. The poison for Kusco. The poison made specifically for Kusco. The poison.

BUT!

Her plots always drive me to read her entire novels because, damn, the woman can write a plot.

Plot and ideas matter. The always matter.
