The original artist has every right to be frustrated and complain about their frustration. But they have no right to stop other artists from responding to their artwork if they post it publicly, and no room to complain if their original artwork was fanart to begin with.

New art doesn't change the original art. It has its own meaning that uses the original art as background, in the same way the original fanart was its own piece that used Sherlock for background. On any art or piece of work, people are going to project their own meanings and interpretations no matter what you do, and everyone will see it just a little bit differently. People will judge her comic on its own basis and background, and that won't change just because now there's another perspective put out there by another fanartist.
