A song from a musical that describes you

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
What the title says! If you had to describe yourself using a song from a musical, what song would it be? (mind you, it has to be a song from a MUSICAL, not any old song.)

Castle on a Cloud. I'm in a shitty situation that I don't know if I'll ever get out of, and I find much of my comfort in daydreaming about a better one.

What Do You Do with a B.A. in English/It Sucks To Be Me from Avenue Q, haha

Especially Kate Monster's part,

"I'm kinda pretty and pretty damn smart,
I like romantic things like music and art,
And as you know I have a gigantic heart,
so why don't I have a boyfriend? Fuck!
It sucks to be me."

Though this is more how I feel about certain things in life, but I can't really think of any that I feel describes me as a person.

"If I Were A Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof, to be honest. Although I'm a girl.

Lord who made the lion and the lamb
You decreed I should be what I am
Would it spoil some vast eternal plan
If I were a wealthy man?

I would like it to be "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?" from The Sound of Music, but I'm not sure I'm that interesting.

It's probably closer to "The Life I Lead" from Mary Poppins, since I'm such a habit-centered inflexible bore.

I WISH "The Life I Lead" described me.

I feel a surge of deep satisfaction
Much as a king astride his noble steed
When I return from daily strife
To hearth and wife
How pleasant is the life I lead!

Pure heaven, to me. I don't care that the movie was making fun of how narrow-minded and stuffy this kind of life was, I WANT IT. Just to have the chance to try it, for once.

One Song Glory, minus the illness.

On my more pessimistic, cynical days: "Nobody's on nobody's side" from Chess.

Basically, the entirety of Tim Burton's Vincent. That's me.

It's not really a song, more of a poem, though.
