Yeah, THAT SCENE. If pressed, I'd say it was my favorite scene in the entire show, and the best demonstration of what a close friendship means.

And oh yes, I forgot about Starsky's Lady too. Those were actually quite similar episodes at the core, but expressed so very differently -- the explosion of grief and rage versus crushing slow misery.

I guess they didn't literally cry all that much, but on the emotional range the fell below the level of crying, they had a lot of really good emotional expression.

You know it's hard, sometimes, to notice in those old episodic shows that didn't reference continuity, just how traumatic and troubled some characters' lives were. Because geez, give the poor guys a break once in a while, huh writers?
