Sometimes I wake up crying because I'm afraid that something'll happen to my eyes or my hands and I'll be left helpless. One of the worst feelings ever.

Meaning no disrespect, why the slashed capitalization? Is there a distinction between deaf and Deaf? If so, is it primarily within deaf culture, or used elsewhere? I just ask because it's a usage I've not seen before.

Fortunately, no. Otherwise I would be freaking out ten times harder. It's just that my life is largely dependent on my ability to see and handle things, and there's no one who'd help me if these abilities failed me.
