...told that you deserved to die? Are you sure it wasn't trolling in the deep? Noodles and a couple of anons respond to anything "furry" with "Kill it with fire!" but I don't think they're being literal.

Unless you wrote the suicidal secret just recently, if so, then yeah chard messed up. ISTR she admitted she did though....

Not that I'm defending FS and discounting your experience, though. I have seen a lot worse than what goes on here in the secret threads, so maybe it's worse for someone who hasn't had the same experiences I have. IDK? I'm sorry that happened to you, anyway.

Nah. I don't doubt op got literal "you should die" posts. I posted a secret a while back about a character I identified with and got a thread of "you are a terrible person who deserves bad things." There were a few "you should die" posts in that one as well.

And see, that is why I would pretty much never totally condemn anyone for a secret, no matter how awful it sounds. I will readily admit that I have been into some shady, shady stuff, fandom-related and otherwise. I wouldn't act on some of the urges/thoughts I have had, but just having them and entertaining them? That's not really that unusual, right?

No, it was apparently people who had really strong feelings about the scene in question. When I actually agreed with what they were saying, just I hadn't been referring to the part they were reacting to, and they assumed I was and reacted based on that. And then when I commented to say that wasn't what I meant, they called me an idiot, or accused me of backpedaling.

Worst part is, some of the people telling me I was a horrible person are people who I've had good dealings with in general comments and in the fandom elsewhere. And then when I admitted something anonymously apparently they're willing to jump all over me and make assumptions that were not true based on their own feelings about a freaking fictional scene. Nice to know.

Well, that sucks, I'm sorry, pantswarrior. I have posted secrets before that were wildly misinterpreted or I was accused of trolling when I wasn't (and sometimes not picked up on when I was). Since I'm anon and not a named user, I guess I don't invest a lot in the secrets I post, so it doesn't really faze me all that much if the comments go south, even from named users I have had positive experiences with previously.

I'm sorry your experience sucked, though.
