The damsel-in-distress-maniac-pixie-dream-girl-who-is-supposed-to-be-awesome-but-does-nothing-and-is-boring-as-shit-trope. Sooooooo sick of seeing it everywhere. Much rather see the girl take charge of her own story and actually, you know, have a personality.

In my experience, that's usually a Mary Sue, and I've never seen a fic that would have such a character and be even remotely well written.

Hey, I started it considering media in general, so NBD - and yes, that annoys the hell out of me, too. Whether I see it in fic or on the big screen...

Oh, my bad. I think it was supposed to be a thread about everything, I just thought you meant fanfic because it's a very typical fanfic character. Come to think of it, I've seen them on TV/in films, too.
