...am I bizarre for missing the grind?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm playing around in WoW again for the first time in forever, and there were so many changes to streamline things...on the one hand, yes, it was a pain in the ass to level up in the wild and need to go find a trainer to learn the new skills, and it was a giant pain to run out of ammo and need to buy more, and it was extremely annoying that my hunter could have this badass crossbow but if a mob got too close she suddenly couldn't use it and had to whack the mob with a stick.

BUT on the other hand all those things gave me a feeling of realism and progression...going to the class trainer 'cause I'm a big girl and can make traps now, buying real arrows (even with the silliness of 'carrying' thousands of them around), switching from my badass crossbow to the badass pike I was also carrying. Now you can only carry one weapon.

Like, am I making any sense, or is this just silly old-timer "back in my day" ranting?

Why can you only carry one weapon? I don't even play WoW but this upsets me. You should be able to carry a variety of weapons!

DA

You *can* carry more than one weapon if you want - I always do [though that's because I forget to sell it than wanting to have more than one on me]. The OP is just unhappy that you don't *need* to carry more than one weapon now, which I'm more than happy about, tbh.

Ahhhh, alright. If you can still carry more than one weapon that's cool. It would be weird if you couldn't. Not having to shouldn't be a big deal since it doesn't interfere with your personal play style. SORRY OP.

You can have as many as you want, but you can only 'equip' (wear, basically) 2 one-handers or 1 two-hander. There used to be a ranged weapon slot and 2 melee weapon slots. It brought me a great sense of joy to be shooting things and still have the giant scary pike hanging on my character's back.

Ah, alright. I like being able to do that too. (I'm thinking of Dragon Age where you can switch out melee weapons and ranged weapons if you want, or just have two sets of any weapons in general.)

Some people are trying to get the LOOK back for hunters, like having an aesthetic quiver added when you equip a bow or crossbow. Same for a satchel with ammo in it, but keep the whole "buying ammo" out of the game.

If for one am happy I missed out on that, same with the buying abilities thing. I hate it in SWTOR, so why would I want it back in WoW?

What I'm irrationally iffy about is the cost of artisan riding....B/ ugh. I know you get handed gold nowadays (when you get high enough and spam dungeons...which I'm beginning to both love and hate cause it causes me to miss out of on the over world quests once I get too high...but but GEAR.

This - though I do hate dungeons [people get *nasty* if you've never run it before and mention that even if it's before you run the damn thing] so that can make getting gold fun.
