Global warming doesn't exist-

because it's cold in March!

I'm so sick of hearing this. Global warming means colder weather in the winter and warmer weather in the summer. So far this winter has been pretty good evidence FOR global warming. I swear it's the name, no one ever listens.

People just cannot grasp that global warming can cause local cooling. It has actually been a very mild (temperature wise) winter where I live. Virtually no cold weather whatsoever, and an early spring.

Yeah, probably is the name - and the fact that there are a fair number of nut jobs out there that have used it to explain/blame/what-have-you a number of things that are completely unrelated to it.

I think everyone intelligent acknowledges that by now

Anyone who doesn't is almost definitionally a moron.

What I do believe is that (a) global warming has consistently been at the very low end of or below most or all projections and predictive systems (b) the fact that anthropogenic climate change is occurring does not mean that we should take everything said about it at face value (c) the conversation about global warming, and especially about global warming, is often unhealthy, and tends towards "We must do something; this is something; we must do it."

We don't know how bad global warming is. We do have good reason to suspect that the worst predictions are very unlikely to occur. And the existence of a boatload of idiots doesn't mean that we have to go the opposite way and believe everything anyone says about global warming.

I sometimes say it as a joke - "I could really use some of that global warming right now!" - but I agree saying in seriousness "we've had a hard winter so obviously global warming is a lie" is really dumb.
