Get over the fact that SnK's more popular than the anime you love. It's embarrassing.

It has nothing to do with its popularity; I just don't want people going in and expecting its majorly oversung praises like I did.

Also realize this the author's first major project and his planned ending got replaced with however long this will keep making money, which I don't see going anywhere good.

But long running, popular shounen series that have more fans than my favorite anime aren't inherently bad. I wouldn't be a grump if someone was recommending the more popular One Piece or either of Yoshihiro Togashi's Shounen Jump series.
