Have I fallen into a time machine? Is this 2007?

[personal profile] feotakahari 2014-03-23 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
2007 is like the 1980s. It never actually ended.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-23 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL this is perfect.

The 1980s never ended? I'm fairly certain they did. And I NEVER WANT THEM TO COME BACK.

The Eighties sucked, okay.

Hey, I love tons of media from the 80s. Sure there was a lot wrong politically and economically and boy did the clothes suck, but the media was awesome!

(Anonymous) 2014-03-23 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
lol my dad always gets the year wrong, it still thinks it's the 80's

2014=1984

I was gonna say, I feel like this secret sums up a lot of internet arguments I saw in high school.

I can't believe Bush is banning yaoi.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-23 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
:(

I need to message my Yahoo group about this right away!

if you don't ship SuzaLulu and SasuNaru you're not fighting for gay rights

...Was Suzalulu even that big?

Re: I can't believe Bush is banning yaoi.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-24 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
I thought it was at the time, in yaoi fandom at least.

Hey guys I just finished this Zutara lemon don't like don't read!

(Anonymous) 2014-03-23 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't usually read slash because I'm a lesbian who prefers her porn to contain at least one pussy ... and for that, I've been called homophobic by straight people more often than I can count.

Yeah.
diet_poison: (Default)

[personal profile] diet_poison 2014-03-24 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
that's...really off-the-wall. where's the logic?

I've never seen a straight person tell of a lesbian for that reason, but...I don't doubt it's happened. Probably a lot. It is the internet...
ext_18500: My non-fandom OC Oraania. She's crazy. (Default)

[identity profile] mimi-sardinia.livejournal.com 2014-03-24 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like my reason for not reading femmeslash. Somehow I feel people calling you homophobic is a lot more ridiculous than them throwing that one at me.

(I'm a straight woman. I like at least one dick present in my porn.)

(Anonymous) 2014-03-25 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I know a lot of lezzies who read and write slash, so that reason seems kinda contrived.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-24 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
God I wasn't even active in fandoms before 2009... But this secret sounds ancient; I mean, this is the first time I see the word yaoi since years, man. And legitimately, does anyone still ever do this? People nowadays haven't used the word homophobic as much as years ago; they would lynch you more for what they thought to be "YOU SEXIST WHITE CISMALE," or "RACIST SCUM."

(Anonymous) 2014-03-24 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm always dubious of these claims, because I've yet to see anyone who wasn't called homophobic because they called slash "gross" or somehow "worse" than het or femmeslash. They all claim otherwise afterward, of course, but they're missing the most important part of the story (conveniently).

(Anonymous) 2014-03-24 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ehh, I have no problem with people having their preferences. But the thing is, I'm gay, and I do get a little uncomfortable when people say "I hate slash." Slash is not one pairing, it's not one fandom. It means two guys/two girls together. By saying you hate slash, I can't help but interpret it as you will never ship same-sex pairings, because you hate them. Why can't we judge by the pairing, rather than the orientation? I mean, it's easy to say "slash fans are crazy" etc but frankly the craziest ship wars I've seen have been with straight pairings. Shippers are crazy, okay?

+1

I love you, whoever you are. You are one of the GOOD Yaoi fans. I hate getting dogpiled cause I dont pair every damn male with one another.
