Because we all know racism is 100% conscious hatred. It's never subtle preference. So what if most realtors slightly prefer white people and try harder to find them good houses? Or renters slightly prefer white people and will take an ok white tenant over a great black tenant? Or that millions of those people making tiny decisions over and over would have any measurable effect on life as we know it.

Nope. The only way to be racist is to put on a white hood and scream obscenities. Everything more subtle than that gets you a big shiny gold star that goes Not Racist At All.

I think that would fall under racist, but OP's use of "big ol' racist" pretty much means the consciously racist crowd.

It isn't racist to be attracted to your race. Who does it hurt? As long as you are not going, "Ew _______ people." It hurts 0% of people.

yeah but maybe someone exhibiting the subtle preferences and unconscious assumptions that contribute to racist structures is not grounds for saying "Fuck you, you big ol' fucking racist"

your position is equally inimical to subtlety as the one you're critiquing! the OP is the one who started the process of treating all racism as equivalent to putting on a white hood and screaming obscenities! take the beam out of your own eye

Because not being attracted to a person of the same sex when you're straight makes you a homophobe by default and not being attracted to a pre-op transperson because you're not into that particular set of genitals is automatically transphobic amIright.
