You know you don't have to give strangers online advice for dealing with their depression. Chances are they already know but the depression itself makes it a struggle to take the steps to get that help, and even if they do it's not an instant fix, it's a long process that can keep rearing it's ugly head. Probably talking about it where they feel comfortable helps them. It's not your responsibility to try to fix anyone though.

But I wouldn't be so quick to shake them off as lying. Depression is really really common.

all of this

Yeah I agree with this. And if I'm honest sometimes it's annoying to get unasked for advice, especially since it's usually all the same.

Writing out your feelings is a coping mechanism, if I want advice I will ask for it. But all the obvious ways to deal with depression? Yeah I know about all that. I've had this for my entire life, if you think I haven't been to therapy and been on medication and researched tons of coping mechanisms, you'd be wrong.

Personally I'll sometimes write a post when I'm feeling bad and I feel like I'm all alone, but when the problem is solved and I feel better I'll set it to private if I think it will really worry people.

Sometimes you feel like crying out when you're upset and you want people to pay attention. *Shrug* and that's not bad but it's important to be able to try and work through it , using whatever coping methods you have.
