THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS. I will admit sometimes I'm not in the mood to see mental health stuff all over tumblr (because I go to these places for fun escapism, not to talk about my issues.) But this bullshit of "oh, these FAKERS are really hurting you so much" is just NOT TRUE.

You know what actually hurts me? People belittling and demeaning my problems in the disguise of "oh but I'm really talking about fakers." I also don't like that this brings about an attitude of "oh, well let's just not talk about it" when that is a huge issue in regards to mental health. People need to be educated about it, they need to talk about it, and so many people don't seek treatment because they are afraid and that needs to stop.

I got into a tiff here on FS a while ago where someone started ing with the 'I'm only talking about the fakers' argument and then within the next few comments proceeded to essentially insist that anyone who actually talks about their mental issues must be faking it for attention.

So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of correlation between those lines of thought.
