FOX tried really hard to get the Fringe fans to embrace Almost Human, and I couldn't even do it for Karl. For character-writing that's similar, Sleepy Hollow is a better bet (because it's Kurtzman-Orci). For that sweet-spot combination of body horror elements and universe mythology, Helix is closer in tone (although Orphan Black is also in the mix and picks up Fringe's multi-role angle). Almost Human is a big meh.

I was super excited about it too! I think I watched the first episode and just forgot. And I love Karl Urban.

I've thought about watching Almost Human but I rarely watch the bro shows because all the "no homo" moments are annoying and I figured there'd probably be a bit of that going on.

Almost Human made me realize how valuable a good writer is to a show. Here you have a show with actually good actors, good directing and high end effects and still that show couldn't hold my interest because the writing is that bad. I kept watching hoping the writing would improve but it's just so middle of the road.

I'm actually glad most people don't like Almost Human even though it might mean not getting a second season. All of my other fandoms are giant and kinda batshit and I love having this quiet little fandom that doesn't attract any major attention or reactions. I can live with 13 OK episodes and a fandom that is more than capable of making up the difference for the canon as long as AH doesn't turn into another Agents of Shield.

I can respect that. I was like that about Alcatraz; it was solid and fairly quiet and I would have stuck around for a second season out of curiosity. It's okay that it didn't, but at least while it was on it was never a trainwreck.

Man, I LOVED Alcatraz. I know it was kind all over the place, but I loved the suspense and I so wanted a second season. Plus, I adore Sam Neill.

I'm not sure what was worse about Almost Human, the lazy worldbuilding or the fact that the main characters are all unprofessional assholes and we're supposed to find it cute and likeable.
