What are some shows/movies/games/etc that you are just not looking forward to? Everyone else is hyped up about it but you just want it to go away.

I am not looking forward to Captain America The Winter Soldier at all. Captain America was by far my least favorite MCU movie (so boring). I am not interested in any of the characters (least of all Captain America or Black Widow). Unfortunately, I know it won't ever go away. :(

I feel this way about everything people cream themselves over these days. I'm too busy going through older stuff and tbh most of the new stuff coming out doesn't interest me.

For more specific examples, Free! Season 2 or any new upcoming comic book movie.

Yeah, I find myself being interested in less and less stuff as I get older. I only regularly watch one TV show anymore (The Walking Dead).

I am so sorry. :( If it helps, I will be watching it. But I will wait until it comes out on DVD. Captain America just bored me so much. Though, I do want to read some angsty Steve/Bucky stories. I just love angst.

FOX tried really hard to get the Fringe fans to embrace Almost Human, and I couldn't even do it for Karl. For character-writing that's similar, Sleepy Hollow is a better bet (because it's Kurtzman-Orci). For that sweet-spot combination of body horror elements and universe mythology, Helix is closer in tone (although Orphan Black is also in the mix and picks up Fringe's multi-role angle). Almost Human is a big meh.

The new X-Men movie. It just looks so bad.

I'm not looking forward to the new Transformers movie, but then again, I haven't seen anyone else hyped up about it either, so I'm not sure if that counts. I mean, good grief, it has got Marky Mark as Shia LeBouf's replacement.

Days of Future Past and the Superman vs. Batman movie.

I hate hate hated XMFC, so of course it pisses me off that one of my favourite comic storylines is being gutted and used for the sequel to that travesty. To add insult to injury, they replaced Kitty with Wolverine.

As for why I'm not looking forward to Superman vs. Batman... well, that's self-explanatory, isn't it? I mean, Ben Affleck, are you fucking kidding me.

Go away? Not really. But I am so over Spider-Man. I like the occasional comic story but if the movies stopped tomorrow I wouldn't be crying in my soup.

A few weeks ago I would have said the Veronica Mars movie. I've never seen a single episode of the show, so I really don't care about it. And everyone was talking about it.

Superman v. Batman or whatever it will be called. I'm still not over being angry about Man of Steel and the ruining of Clark's (and Jonathan Kent's) character.

The Amazing Spiderman 2. Didn't watch the first one. I'm not a huge Spiderman fan anyways, but I did enjoy the first two Toby McGuire ones and am annoyed that they rebooted already. They only did it so they didn't lose the rights back to Marvel, and as far as I'm concerned the McGuire ones are the real Spiderman movies.

Captain America was very formulaic. And I wasn't thrilled with the female soldier shooting indoors (big no-no. Some higher-up should have taken her weapon and her rank after that shit).

I am not looking forward to the Highlander remake. At all. Nope nope nope.

Guardians of the Galaxy. Apparently the trailer was amazing and made everyone go crazy. It left me just as uninterested as before.

Awwww, I'm looking forward to the new Cap film, but the first one didn't work for you so I can understand not being excited for it when the internet is abuzz with things about it.

I think I'm a little bit like that with Walking Dead, like I don't hate it but I don't care either. And similarly with Dark Souls 2, but my bf is currently playing through it so I'm hearing a lot about it.

Nothing that particularly jumps out now, but I'm so sick of things being overhyped and presented as The Next Big Thing. Not everything will be, or SHOULD be, "another Harry Potter" or "the next Hunger Games" or "ooh look the latest superhero retcon/origin story is BIGGER and SHINIER and BETTER than anything ever!!1!"

Can't things stand on their own anymore? Why all the overblown, ridiculous, and usually inapt comparison to [insert media hit here]?

This isn't trying to criticize things that have common threads (Battle Royale and Hunger Games, both of which I enjoyed but for different reasons and with different reservations) or that come from a common place (superhero myths). I'm just sick of the constant, rather desperate, attention-grab tactics that fans and marketing people use.

I don't think any particular fandom has ever gotten to the point where I want it to disappear. Other people have their fun. Maybe you have to be active on tumblr for this phenomenon?

Pretty much anything that Tumblr is creaming its pants over. But especially anything Marvel. Also Hannibal, Teen Wolf and Game of Thrones.
