Re: Beer!

I've drunk beer for a while, and I still don't like anything that advertises itself as an IPA (India Pale Ale) or "extra hoppy". Hops impart flavour, but they also impart bitterness, and I don't fancy a bitter beer.

Now, on the other hand the process of "dry hopping" is an entirely different creature. When a beer is labelled "dry hopped", it means the hops are added when the beer is kegged, so that they don't cook along with the malt and other ingredients. What that means as a consumer is that those beers have all the floral notes and other flavours of hops without nowhere near the amount of bitterness.

But hey, don't let me tell you what beer you like. If you like bitter, drink bitter.

Ohhh, that sounds interesting. Definitely going to keep an eye out for "dry hopped" beers next time.

I think that the best way to get into beer is to go for microbrews. If you can find a liquor store that carries a large selection of them, you can try all different kinds of beers and you aren't forced to buy a six pack.

Also bottled beer >>>>>>> beer in cans, and microbrews are almost all bottled.
