I've only seen the show's critics be nasty and overly aggressive, not the fans. And I think it's worth pointing out that Joss isn't the lead writer on the show, only for the pilot. Which incidentally is the worst episode in the series.

You should really get your priorities straight if you think "I hope that person dies" and not "well maybe I should just not consume any media this person worked on because nobody is forcing me to" is the right answer to "What do I do if I don't like what that person does?".
