Some podficcers are just more into the tech aspects than others but just recording with your laptop phone is not a problem at all and won't get you judged. People come with different backgrounds and skill levels. Some people also don't edit much at all. It's like how some writers are super into getting everything betaed and others just don't care and post.

Podfic fandom is super welcoming of newbies and tries to be friendly and accessible, don't be scared!
