Hahah defending that scene is so batshit (with no logic other than shrieks of "SJWs!!!" and "Tumblr!!!) I can't even.

Even my pretty openly bigoted relatives had a good cringe at the symbolism of a lily white girl crowd surfing over dark slaves as their saviour. It was. Not. Good.

The only person I've heard rationally defend it was the anon a while ago who points out that Dany's attempted liberation goes south in a hurry because she doesn't understand their culture, and thus GRRM could be subverting the White Saviour trope here. But denying that it is said trope, especially on the show? Is levels of batshit hipster internet racism few ever reach.

Or, you know, someone trolling and same'anoning like above.

I don't even see anyone actually defending it with arguments. I see only SJW accusations, and something about America.

like, it's fine if you have an opinion that the scene isn't racist because x, y and z. Like maybe GRRM was possibly subverting White Savior trope, or the slaves weren't supposed to be POC in the books, etc. but I don't know if it's funny or sad if any discussion or criticism of something for possibly being racist yields SJW accusations and nothing else. like, I hope it's just trolling and wank-stirring (if so, it apparently worked, well done) but seriously, guys.

Anyone immediately accusing someone who makes an argument criticizing something as racist of being "American" is either a die-hard racist anti-SJW stan, or a troll.

Oh lol yes, assuming someone who's only response to criticism of a show's tropes is to shriek "SJW" and "American" is a troll means I think "people who disagree with me are white".
