There are so many people here who are trying to tell non-white people how they should feel about race-based discrimination, telling them that they are wrong for not having experienced discrimination in their home fucking countries.

Look, people. If you want to argue against the notion of the "white saviour," how about you don't play the white fucking saviour?

There are people everywhere who say they're not oppressed because they're something, and there are people everywhere who say they are oppressed because they're the same something. Nobody speaks for their entire race or nationality. If you say nobody like you is oppressed because you're not, you're wrong. If you think one person saying "I'm A and live in B and I'm not oppressed" means no A who lives in B is oppressed, you're wrong and racist for thinking one person's life represents a whole group of people's lives just because they're the same race.

But that's the problem with this thread - half of it is talking about the scene, and half of it is talking about the shitfest that is trying to apply American conceptions of race to the production in a foreign country.

Nobody's actually argueing about the scene, I think. :)

Hell I sure hope not, because otherwise everyone is either a) blind, b) has no grasp of cinematography, or c) thinks the director is a moron who doesn't realize the implications of said scene o_o
