It's raining again.
The first sword she takes hold of is a children's toy.
They find him, later, beneath a tree in the field.
Link let out an agonised cry as his body hit the sandy ground. (...It, uh, doesn't get that much better for him. Sorry, Link.)
"Please stand for Zelda, Chosen Daughter of Nayru, Shining Light of the Hylian People, and your new Queen of Hyrule."
The sky burns red and gold the night Zelda's father dies.
He's playing outside, a clumsily-made wooden sword in one hand, sparring against invisible enemies.
For someone chosen by the Goddess of Courage, he had certainly taken the coward's way out.
He first sees her in the gardens, small and pale and blonde, a nervous look and a steady gaze wrapped up in her princess finery.
"So there is no other way, then?"

All Zelda fics, aside from the second one, hopefully obviously. In general, present tense = oneshot and past-tense = novel-length, although there are a few past-tense oneshots.
