Ew, absolutely, I agree.

But I'm actually kind of surprised to hear there isn't a lot of fic. Grima's not pretty and maybe fans are protective of Eowyn, but if you'd told me that there was lots of sweaty, uncomfortable fic about power exchanges, self-loathing, and frustration, I would think, "Ew. That makes sense."

Those are all the things that are awful and wonderful about this pairing. Especially the self-loathing.

I'd have assumed there would be fic, because of all of that.

And then the movie, because of Brad Dourif. And because of that actress who plays Eowyn, whose name I can't remember, but who can cry spectacularly well.

I shipped that pairing a lot back in the days, seeing that there are still new fics being written for it makes me wish I was still as into it as I used to be! I've read a couple, and personally thought they were pretty good. Just... sadly not really my thing anymore.

It's gross and weird and messed up and unhealthy and when when I'm in the mood for gross/weird/messed up/unhealthy it's the best.

I hate it that people in general feel the need to add rationales to their secrets (ex. I know it's wrong, but...).

Look, don't apologize for the things you like, especially in fandom. So what if it's "problematic" (and GOD how I hate that word and everything it signifies)? You aren't hurting anyone, and if it pings your lizard brain, go ahead and ship the fuck out of it if you want.

If he looked more like Loki/Tom Hiddleston (basically, if he had at least some charm and looked attractive as a villain), fangirls would be all over this ship. You just know it! A lot of Loki/Jane and Loki/Darcy fanfic story beats are similar to the Grima/Eowyn relationship. Sure, Darcy is a self-insert pretty often but there you have it.

Definitely ew, but yeah I totally see where you're coming from. Fics don't have to be about healthy relationships, just interesting ones.
