Can someone help me out here?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-28 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I've read about this but I feel like I'm missing something. What I know is that he's had sex with fans and every time the fan gave consent. But I think now some are saying they didn't have a choice to say no because he's a youtube celebrity and they didn't want to have sex with him but had to consent.

Is this correct? I really hope I'm wrong because this whole thing scares me.

I thought the issue was that some of them were underage?

I think that's the other guy, the American who slept with a 16 year old in a state where they have to be 17 or 18.

Nope, Alex also slept with underage girls apparently.

Sources? Couldn't find anything that said so, except for when he was also underage which kind of negates the whole thing.

Read the links provided in this thread.

Yeah, I can't find anything about Alex and underage people either. Just Tom Milsom, the aforementioned American.

Alex didn't try to have sex with girls until they reached at least 16 (age of consent in the UK). However he did coerce girls and make them think that they couldn't say no.

Who was the American?

From what I've read, it seems like he manipulated his fans into sex.

Here's a comprehensive compilation of the whole ordeal. There certainly were cases of non-consensual stuff going on and his response is pretty skeevy.

DA

The guy is skeevy as fuck but it's been proven that all of the claims of him sexually assaulting anyone were false. There are actually posts about that linked in the post you shared.

He still coerced young women and doesn't know what consent is.

Coercion is sexual assault, too, you fucking piece of shit stan.

Re: Can someone help me out here?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-28 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
What claims were proven false? Because from what I've heard, none have them have been discredited.

A youtuber called tyrannosauruslexxx was forced into kissing him, even though she repeatedly refused. The masterpost above does cover most of it I think

From what I read it sounded like he'd select people, then badger and nag and guilt them until they agreed to have sex with him. And reports of some unwanted kissing.

...that's fucked up.

they didn't have a choice to say no because he's a youtube celebrity

Seriously? This is a thing now? These idiots are celebrities? Really?

Re: Can someone help me out here?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-28 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. And making sexual advances when you're a youtube celebrity apparently = coercion and thus = sexual assault

The guy's a shitstain but I worry more about applying the label sexual assault when legally it isn't and it doesn't have the same ramifications for the victims as rape. The ramifications for the victims of either thing are equally awful, they just don't happen to be the same. There are distinctions to be made and it does more harm than good to ignore that.

Re: Can someone help me out here?

What happened to these girls was sexual assault. Yes, he is a big youtuber and is now in the public eye, but would still be sexual assault if he wasn't 'famous'. A man grabbing your butt in a train carriage is sexual assault. A boyfriend who coerced you into sex when you clearly don't want to is sexual assault. Most sexual assault cases don't get reported because where's the proof? What's the point?

There are thousands of men like Alex Day, however he realised he could exploit his fame and get women.

You can't say no to sex with a 'youtube celebrity' now? I'm sorry, I've never heard of this guy, but it seems beyond weird to me that being a 'youtube celebrity' could be thought by anyone to be important enough to have any bearing on sex.
