You can try being honest to the people you think you could be friends with. Just tell them that the comm isn't what you thought it'd be and it's getting a little too much for you to handle. You might have other interests you can fall back on. Maybe some of them aren't as serious about the rpf as they appear. And if they are and don't like what you have to say, then it sounds like you didn't want to talk to them anymore anyway.
