NAYRT, but I definitely see CostCo as...middle-class thrifty, if that makes sense? Because if you are lower class, then you're not going to have enough money for the membership fees or to buy in bulk, and if you are more central or upper middle class or any wealthier, then you really have no reason to buy in bulk in the first place. Which puts CostCo firmly in the realm of people in the middle class who want/need to save money in the long run, and can afford to burn a little extra money in the short run in order to do so.

AYRT: Yeah, pretty much this. We buy a lot of bulk non-perishables there; it's a bit more in the short run, for the membership fees, but it does save money in the long run, which is important.

Eh, depends on where you live, I think. In my experience, CostCo is definitely upper crust in cities, but tends to 'sink' towards lower middle class as you get out to the suburbs, and then goes 'back up' in rural areas.

It's mostly to do with how you're poor. If you are 'poor' by virtue of having a low salary and knowing how much you'll have next month, even if it's not much, that's very different than being poor as in living in paycheck-to-paycheck and not even knowing if you'll have a job next month, letalone income...yeah, you're going to be less inclined to burn money now to save money later.
