I actually don't recall seeing too many of those lately (not ones literally using the words "I judge you" anyway). We used to get them a whole lot more back on lj though

Yeah, we don't really get them that often anymore. Back on lj though there was a point where we got so many of them that a few people were advocating for "I judge you" secrets to be put in the failbar along with "I ship it" secrets

Those secrets do still pop up occasionally, and I agree they are annoying. That being said, I like secrets that are actually, you know, SECRETS - which is something most posted aren't actually - and if they have "I wouldn't say this out loud but..." vibes, then at least it promotes some discussion?

I think it would take a little longer than not going out for more than a day to become out of touch with the real world! I actually agree with you though about these kinds of secrets. It's so so absurdly arrogant to think that people are going to care if some random stranger on the internet is "judging" them for usually very silly fandom reasons.

I remember those kinda secrets. Those used to piss me off so much I swear it made me want to disagree with the "judging" OP just out of spite if they didn't have a good case (and usually they didn't) I think I only remember ONE with a good case...something to do with supporting Roman Polanski and Woody Allen.

But the others lol "If you ship this [HermioneXHarry) I automatically assume you're immature" Shit like that. It always sounded like some spoiled teenager whining or a stuck up bully.

I was just thinking that "I judge you" seemed to be a fad that faded. Now I guess if you write a secret about you judge I judge you secrets, well, I judge you.

I get your annoyance, but...I also feel like the reason people make secrets out of that type of feeling is that they know it's irrational and childish.

It's kind of easy to lose sight of the fact that the reason people submit shit to F!S is that they either a) can't say something because it's against their fandom's norms or b) won't say something because they know it's ridiculous. I think this falls under case b. And, well, we all feel things that we know are ridiculous, and it's completely okay to feel them as long as we don't act on them.

This. I've made a couple secrets in the past with similar wording just because I knew it'd get a rise out of people in the comments.

A lot of these secrets express perfectly valid complaints or interesting differences of opinion, and then they ruin all their credibility with "and if you disagree, I'll act like a spoilt 12-year-old about it".

It's similar to the secrets that go, "I don't like [Version] of [Thing], and if you do, I hope a thing you like gets a version you think is terrible and it ruins your thing for you".

C'mon, OP, you're entirely anonymous, you don't need to be defensive because people can't dislike you at all, all they can do is dislike your sentiment.

For me, it depends on what the judging is about. Is it over someone not liking your OTP, or is it over people having skeevy attitudes towards things? I sure as hell am going to judge people who do stuff like ship abusive pairings and really, honestly think they're sweet and romantic instead of messed up, because that's the kind of thing that's indicative of questionable RL views too.
