By being someone who just fetishizes gay men? Someone who likes the ideas of two guys fucking, but doesn't want them to be married.

Yep. Or you could love Tragically Gay! tropes and want to preserve the beautiful tragedy. I've seen versions of this with anti-marriage-equality people, and also people who think effective birth control "robs sex of danger" and fiction of sad Fantines to weep gloriously over.

There have been essays written for mainstream publication on basically this theme.
