She's cool, but I feel like everyone is trying to make her out to be the Wonder Woman of Marvel. She's not.

Isn't it Storm? Wasn't there an amalgam character that looked like Storm with Diana's costume?

That was a lousy series though that paired people off based more about fan voting than anything. But yeah. The fusion character was "Amazon"

Funnily enough, I'd be tempted to say that the Captain America would be Wondy's closest Marvel counterpart.

That's just it. No one is really Wonder Woman of Marvel. Because all the characters people point to are American or come from backgrounds that way, way too different from Diana. The closest one out there that comes to Diana's backstory, coming from a warrior society based on magic that has been cut off from the rest of Earth culture is Sif. And even she is not that close.

That's a good comparison, but I think the big difference between the two is that even though Diana is an 'alien' to Earth, she still has a pretty close relationship to Earth, and a key to her character is her relationship with mankind. (Yep, like you said, Marvel doesn't really have a Wonder Woman)

....i think Thor is closest

As far as prominent female character of Marvel... Rogue or Storm. Probably the best known.

I don't think it's really a fair thing to compare because before the movies I'd argue X-men (and Spider-man) are Marvel's best known titles to casuals(for lack of a better term) and most X-men's ability to carry their own title is lacking. Male or female.

There was a character in Hercules that was the princess of the Amazon's crafted from dirt but she was an asshole and I'm too lazy to crack the book open to remember her name.

I'd say Storm, but Rogue is probably the second most popular and prominently featured. Emma Frost is featured a lot, but she's not so much a fan favorite as an eye candy favorite.

And, yeah, Wolverine is the only one who consistently gets his own title. Cable had a pretty good run when he was the showrunner of the Dark Age.

Part of the reason is that people like seeing the group dynamic. You obviously miss a lot of that with solo titles.

Power Princess.

Dead serious. Look her up. Basically exactly Wonder Woman.

Funny, I love the new Captain Marvel costume, but I do feel like the costume design/patriotic posing/female icon status is taking a lot of its cues from Wonder Woman. Not that it's a bad thing.
