Honestly, I don't think it's petty at all. This dev's attitude sounds very pretentious and preachy, which is a huge turn-off.

To add to the captioned poster's thoughts: some people who could otherwise obtain credit cards choose not to have them, and the reasons for that choice are completely valid. The fact that this dev would look down upon them says a lot about him, and they aren't very good things.
