Re: major character deaths
(Anonymous) 2014-04-02 12:19 am (UTC)(link)Sherlock Holmes in The Final Problem. I give ACD all props for wanting to be done with the guy, but really, it wasn't necessary at all. His Last Bow finished things off quite roundly, and could have easily been produced instead.
which one do you think really added depth to the work?
Sherlock Holmes. I.e., his reappearance/resurrection in The Adventure of the Empty House would not have happened if not for The Final Problem, so I shouldn't complain, right?
