Re: Do you pirate?

I pirate things especially when I think about buying them because I can't buy all the stuff I like on a whim just to find out it actually sucks. That happens with asian movies a lot - I refuse to pay for movies anymore when in the end, they only have terrible dubtitles and have at least 20 minutes cut and the plot is impossible to understand because important scenes are missing.
I have pirated music and movies in those cases where I actually owned the CDs/DVDs but the fucking copy protection made them impossible to play on my computer and I guess that's not really pirating because I own the stuff?

I also pirate things where I get the feeling that legally acquiring them is more illegal than pirating (some companies really shouldn't complain about piracy if they go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible to buy their products (I'm looking at you, Disney, and your weird way to sell Tron:Uprising)).

And I probably wouldn't be able to write my thesis without all the illegal googlebooks scans of books that aren't even available through interlibrary loan anymore...
