I haven't read it, but it would be hard for me to get past the stupid names, too. ESPECIALLY if they're supposed to represent an older language that just happens to include a lot of names that look exactly like modern English words with an h jammed into them somewhere.

I'd be more inclined to buy it if, for example, the characters were 12 y/o metalheads who accidentally bound themselves to terrible names in what turned out to be a permanently binding naming ceremony. But I haven't read these books, so maybe it works anyway?

But names are one of the few things I'm really picky about. Like, I don't mind it when "alien" characters are just human actors with a stamp on their forehead or pointy ears, but lazy language-building is pretty hard for me to get over. If you enjoy them, great!

I don't know, maybe I should try them just to see if the author can make it work.
