Oh you do? Awesome!

I used a bit of energy drink to get me through the middle part. That was really hard.

Awesome! I believe you can do it. I love fantasy, almost all of my planned worlds have some element of it. It feels like the most free genre to work in for me.

It's funny because most of my ideas have always been fantasy, but for whatever reason the two big ones that I actually worked on and finished weren't (though one was dystopian and the other has ghosts in it). I think it's the most free as well, since you can really take the world building in any direction, within whatever constraints you've chosen. The pressure to be realistic is at least different, if not absent.

I'm still mainly in the planning/plotting phase for this one, so I'll be working on my own version of a scene sheet tu

Stupid phone. Scene sheet type soon. But today I felt like starting to write something - exciting!

I love that feeling. I love beginnings in general. I have so many random beginnings that are never going anywhere (as well as a folder with that title to hold them all). I'm sure some of them will take off and others can be cannibalized for ideas, but mostly it's just about how I love starting something new with infinite possibilities.

oooh.

I don't know what mine would be classified other than fantasy. I mean you COULD see my current project as dystopian but I don't because really its modern, and the problems in the Psi community are based on real life problems you see everywhere. The psychologically abusive "curing" of telepaths and emapths? Yeah there a places that treat gay and disabled kids that way in real life.

So other than fantasy, maybe urban fantasy...idk what they would be that's up to my editor and publisher to figure out. I just want to get my story out.

And good luck. I added a little to mine by summarizing Skye and Timmy's character development at the top and on some new chapters, doing a blurb on a few of the new characters showing up in the chapter.

Yeah, that sounds like scifi / dystopian scifi to me. Or fantasy, but the use of "psi" makes me think scifi.

Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to be thinking about how my work can fit into a genre when I start querying agents. I would much rather ignore it and write between genres (which I already tend to do because I write for a late teens/early twenties audience). I do not like marketing.

Oohh . I don't know how to feel about that because on the one hand it sounds cool, but on the other ...well I worry people will think I'm just trying to follow a trend (though there is fantasy- there's a magic using community and a major antagonist who dabbles in dark magic.)

*nod* I'm not fond of the whole marketing "fit it in with what's selling" mindset.
